We’re just waiting to hear on the IPL, I’ll just sit by the phone and get ready to play: Kane Richardson

Kane Richardson, the Australian fast bowler, said that he and his Aussie teammates are keeping their fingers crossed

regarding the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The cash-rich T20 tournament was set to get

underway on March 29, but the start has now been postponed to April 15 due to the outrageous coronavirus

outbreak, which has resulted in a global lockdown.

As many as 17 Australian cricketers have IPL contracts with Richardson getting picked by the Royal  Challengers

Bangalore (RCB).‘I’d have committed suicide before taking bribe’ – Kapil Dev after Manoj Prabhakar levied match-

fixing charges against him in 1997 Richardson was a part of Australia’s squad in the series against New

Zealand that eventually got cancelled. The pacer was quarantined after he complained of sore throat before the

opener at the SCG. He is now eagerly waiting for a news surrounding the IPL.

It’s happened out of nowhere: Kane Richardson

“We’re just waiting to hear. A lot of the blokes have opinions – ‘it’s going to get cancelled’, this and that – but again it

can change in a day or a week, so I’ll just sit by the phone and get ready to play for the 15th at the moment – that’s

what I’m thinking,” Richardson was quoted as saying in

wreaked havoc across the globe. He said that even when the Aussies were in South Africa for the ODI and T20I

series, there were no signs of the deadly virus in the air. He stated how the Aussies were vocal about playing in the

“(The Australia squad) were all sitting around chatting about it. It’s happened out of nowhere. A lot of us were going

to be away from now till the end of the IPL, so to now be sitting at home with absolutely no idea when the next game

of cricket is going to be for any of us, just shows how quickly this has grown,” he added.

About him being tested for coronavirus, Richardson said that he had one of the four symptoms after he had travelled

over the last couple of weeks. However, to his relief, the results turned out to be negative. In the meantime, all

cricketing activities have been suspended in Australia.

LAH vs KAR Today Match Prediction

LAH vs KAR Preview:

Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars will play each other in the 2nd semi-final. The Lahore team was almost knocked out of the tournament, if not for the heroic knock by Chris Lynn. Lahore Qalandars have consistently performed inconsistently in the history of PSL. Though, Chris Lynn took the team to the third spot. The departure of Chris Lynn is a cause of the problem for the side, but when compared with the withdrawal from the other sides, Qalandars seemed best placed at the moment. Karachi Kings, on the other hand, are shook by the departure of Alex Hales, who fitted very well with Babar Azam has shaken the team. The bowling is also a cause of concern for the Qalandars side.

Lahore Qalandars vs Karachi Kings: Pakistan Super League

Match Details:

Match: LAH vs KAR
1st Semi-Final, Pakistan Super League
Date: Monday, 17th March 2020
Time: 7:30 PM
Venue: Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Both the teams met twice in the league. The Lahore team came out victorious on both occasions. The second game saw Chris Lynn destroying the Karachi team. The Karachi side would try to break the series of losses against the Lahore side and would like to come away with a win against them.

Today’s Cricket Match Prediction

Strength: The strength of Lahore Qalandars lies in their batting department. Even after the departure of Chris Lynn, the team consists of Sohail Akhtar, Fakhar Zaman, and Mohammad Hafeez, all of whom have crossed the total of 300 runs in the tournament. The team also has a bunch of useful all-rounders in the form of David Wiese and Samit Patel, who can change the complexion of any game at any moment. The bowling, especially Shaheed Afridi, is another strength that can take them to victory. On the other hand, Karachi Kings have Babar Azam in their side, and he alone can be counted as strength for the side. The availability of Imad Wasim and Cameron Delport provides the team with some useful all-round options.

Weaknesses: The biggest weakness for Lahore Qalandars lies in explosive batsmen up top The team has a lot of useful batsmen who have scored more than 200 runs in the tournament, and they are missing that one explosive batsman at the top who can accelerate at will. The lack of good bowling partner for Shaheen Afridi is also a significant cause of concern for the team and could be the make or break in the match. Karachi Kings, on the other hand, look a different team since the departure of Alex Hales. The Kings lack a match-winner batsman other than Babar Azam in their side. The wicket-taking options are also scarce, and no one other than Mohammad Amir has scalps in double digits at the moment.

LAH vs KAR Today Match Prediction Tips-Who Will Win Today?

The group stage saw Karachi Kings performing brilliantly and winning five games out of 10. The process saw Kings finished on the 2nd spot, whereas Qalandars qualified to the semifinal due to a fantastic inning by Chris Lynn in the last match. Lahore Qalandars are known for their inconsistent performances. To make matters worse, Chirs Lynn has departed for his country due to the Covid-19 scare. All the factors have combined to make Karachi Kings’ favorite in today match prediction.

Bet365: Karachi Kings: 1.72, Lahore Qalandars: 2.10
Betway: Karachi Kings: 1.66, Lahore Qalandars: 2.15

Dream 11 Prediction for Today’s Match

Lahore Qalandars:

Fakhar Zaman: 246 runs in nine innings.

Sohail Akhtar: 236 runs in nine innings

Shaheen Afridi: 13 wickets in nine matches.

Samit Patel: Nine Wickets and 137 runs in 10 matches.

Mohammad Hafeez: 217 runs and three wickets in 10 matches.

Karachi Kings:

Babar Azam: 345 runs in 10 matches.

Imad Wasim: Five wickets and 121 runs in nine matches.

C Delport: 178 runs in 8 matches.

Mohammed Amir: 10 wickets in nine matches.

LAH vs KAR Dream 11

The fantasy cricket time could be a tricky one for this game. Karachi Kings, even though the favorite in this game, looks an inferior side on the papers. Babar Azam, who has 345 runs in 10 games, should make a place for himself along with the experienced Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim. Chadwick Walton can be chosen as the fourth essential player for the side. On the other hand, Mohammad Hafiz, Shaheen Afridi, Ben Dunk, and David Wiese should be selected on the Dream11 side. Haris Rauf has proved highly inefficient throughout the tournament, but he portrayed his performance in Big Bash League and could be chosen as a wild card option in Dream11 side.

MUL vs PES Today Match Prediction

MUL vs PES Preview:

Multan Sultan and Peshawar Zalmi will face each other in the first semi-final of the 5th edition of PSL. The format of the tournament took a hit, and the playoff formats were changed into the less prevalent semi-finals. The Multan team must the most severely affected side due to the change as they will get only once chance to qualify to the final instead of the proposed two chances. The Sultans teamed the most stable team in the league stage and ended at the top of the table with 14 points. The team lost just two games in ten and will take the field as favourites against Peshawar Zalmi who could manage only nine points in ten games. The game, however, will be affected and the teams could look complete different outfits due to departure of a few star players.

Multan Sultan vs Peshawar Zalmi: Pakistan Super League

Match Details:

Match: MUL vs PES
1st Semi-Final, Pakistan Super League
Date: Monday, 17th March 2020
Time: 2:30 PM
Venue: Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Multan Sultan and Peshawar Zalmi have met twice in the group stage. Sultans won both the games. The first game saw them coming out victorious with six wickets while chasing a modest total of 123 runs whereas the second game saw them winning by a narrow margin of three runs.

Today’s Cricket Match Prediction

Strength: The fanfare of the tournament has significantly reduced due to the departure of various star players. However, if there is one team least affected by Exodus, it is Multan Sultans. Luckily, they have not lost any big names and have a steady domestic batting order. However, their real strength lies in their bowling and the wicket-taking abilities possessed by these bowlers. The strength of Peshawar lies in a completely different domain than the Multan Sultans. The team has a few heroes in Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal and Wahab Riaz and these players are capable of taking the game away at any instance of time.

Weaknesses: The biggest weakness of Multan Sultan is an evident one. The team clearly lacks a match-winner in the batting department, and this makes them vulnerable. No player other than Shan Masood has managed to score even 200 runs throughout the season and this makes it their biggest weakness and especially in big games like these. Apart from the Exodus of various foreign players, they now have a very weak middle order, and it can create problems for the team.

MUL vs PES Today Match Prediction Tips-Who Will Win Today?

The live prediction for the 1st semi-final between Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi have heavily favoured the Multan Sultan side. The Peshawar Zalmi has seen a lot of players leaving Pakistan towards their own mother’s den due to the ever-increasing danger caused by Covid-19. This Exodus has reacted to the team negatively and hence has made the Multan Sultans the favourites. The past result of both the team has also heavily tilted today match prediction in favour of Multan Sultans.

Bet365: Multan Sultan: 1.61, Peshawar Zalmi: 2.30
Betway: Multan Sultan: 1.61, Peshawar Zalmi: 2.15

Dream 11 Prediction for Today’s Match

Multan Sultans:

Shan Masood: 253 runs in eight innings.
Sohail Tanvir: 10 wickets in eight matches including a 4-for against the Peshawar outfit.
Imran Tahir: 10 wickets eight matches.

Peshawar Zalmi:

Shoaib Malik: 239 runs in seven innings at an average of 34.14.
Haider Ali: 239 runs in nine innings at an average of 29.87.
Kamran Malik: 251 runs in nine wickets.
Wahab Riaz: 11 wickets in nine matches

MUL vs PES Dream 11

The fantasy cricket side will definitely create a commanding place for Karman Akmal. Whereas, the batsmen will be made by the Shan Masood and Haider Ali. The likes of Darren Sammy, Shoaib Malik etc. will create the all-rounders in your fantasy team whereas biggest competition will surface in the bowling department. The fantasy team could be bowling heavy which a place for all four Sohail Tanvir, Wahab Riaz, Imran Tahir and Hasan Ali.

Predicted Playing XI of RCB for IPL 2020 without overseas players

Predicted Playing XI of RCB for IPL 2020 without overseas players.

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken the world by storm. All the events and gatherings including sporting events have

been adversely affected by the rapid transmission of the virus. The scares caused by the pandemic have taken a heavy

toll on all the sporting events which were to be conducted in this and in the following month.

Many events like PSL are being conducted behind closed doors. South Africa’s tour of India, New Zealand’s tour of

Australia and Australia women’s tour of South Africa have been called off. The Road Safety World Series has also

been postponed until further notice. In fact, even IPL 2020 has been postponed till April 15 as of now.

There is no idea when the situation regarding the outbreak of the virus will be taken under control. In such a

scenario, the participation of foreign players in this year’s edition of IPL may be in jeopardy. In such a situation, the

teams may have to adjust accordingly and carry on with the league with only Indian players in the playing XI.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is the team which consists of the superstars like AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn

and Aaron Finch among others. And they will have to make do without them if the foreign players refuse to visit the

country for the T20 extravaganza.

Here is our predicted playing XI of RCB for IPL 2020 without overseas players: –

1. Devdutt Padikkal

The 19-year-old batsman from Karnataka impressed one and all during his outings in the limited-overs leg of India’s

domestic season. Opening the batting for Karnataka in both Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he

showed glimpses of brilliance as the southpaw compiled a truckload of runs whilst taking his team to victory. In fact,

at times he even outshone his more experienced counterpart, KL Rahul.

Padikkal was the leading run-scorer in both Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and hence made a

name for himself in the initial stages of his career. In Vijay Hazare Trophy, he scored 609 runs in 11 innings at an

average of 67.67. On the other hand, in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he scored 580 runs in 12 innings at an average of

64.44 with the highest score of 122 from just 60 deliveries. His strike rate of 175.76 in the latter helped in

establishing his status as an aggressive opener.

The RCB squad consists of an experienced opener like Aaron Finch and exciting young talent like Josh Philippe. Both

of them have a better chance of making it to the playing XI in absence of an experienced opener for Parthiv Patel.

However, if the participation of both the Aussies is doubtful, Padikkal may be given a chance to feature in the playing

Franchises prepare for total IPL 2020 call-off as owners conference call is set to happen on March 16

The IPL 2020 has become the biggest victim of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic as it is becoming more likely that the

richest T20 league in the world, may not be played altogether or happen in a curtailed form. The BCCI and franchise

owners will be having a conference call on March 16 to discuss various possibilities and prepare accordingly.

The call is scheduled to happen at 6 pm on Monday, March 16, 2020, and the unanimous call is to keep safety the

biggest priority. The Maharashtra government has already banned the sale of IPL tournament opener that was

supposed to take place on March 29 between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. They have also

ordered the closures of cinema halls, malls and other places of mass gatherings as well to keep people in their homes.

Franchise owners subconsciously ready to see the league get canceled this season

“We are having a conference call today in the evening and we will discuss the situation, but just look around. Schools,

colleges, malls, theaters have all been closed. In fact, even gyms have closed now after the fresh directive from the

health department. So, in such a scenario, it is only obvious that we might get to a situation where the league may

have to be called off for a season,” a franchise official was quoted by India Today.

The official termed at least INR 15-20 crores of losses when it comes to salaries and other logistics if the league is

called-off this season. He also counted other losses in terms of merchandise sales which owners will have to bear,

despite the tickets and many other things being insured. But nothing beats human safety is what all the owners are

united on.

Will the foreign boards allow its players to play in IPL?

Another official of a franchise touched upon the scenarios of foreign boards allowing their players to play in the IPL,

even if the BCCI arranged for the Indian government to grant visas to incoming players from other countries. “What

also needs to be checked is whether the foreign boards will allow their players to come in if and when the

government makes an exception for the players. While all boards want the IPL to happen at present, you never know

what the call will be at the end of the month,” he added.

The Indian government has banned all visas, except for a few official categories, till April 15. The Sports Ministry also

followed this up by making it clear that all sporting events should be canceled in the wake of the coronavirus

outbreak. If that’s unavoidable, the events must take place behind close doors, in empty stadiums.

South African cricketers left stranded amid Coronavirus fears

The novel coronavirus pandemic has claimed the lives of more than 5,000 people across the world and has infected

more than 1,60,000 people globally. The confirmed cases of COVID-19 have already surpassed 100 in India and it is

indeed a worrying sign. To make things worse, India has recorded two deaths as well with the Government taking all

the possible steps to avoid spreading of the virus.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the people not to panic while also asserting that the government

is keeping a tab on the situation as it is taking the necessary steps to combat the fast-spreading outbreak. Amid

coronavirus fears, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has postponed the cash-rich Indian Premier

League until April 15.

South African players left stranded

Meanwhile, South Africa cricket team will be flying out of India from Kolkata, but are expected to be put up at a

Rajarhat hotel, close to the airport, instead of a hotel in Alipore which is closer to Eden Gardens. South Africa who

were slated to play India in the third ODI at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday, will take a Tuesday morning flight

from Kolkata to Dubai en route South Africa.

flew to Lucknow after it was announced that the last two games will be played behind closed doors after an advisory
from the Union sports ministry that public gatherings during sports events should be put to a halt because of the
growing coronavirus outbreak and with that being the case, the Indian cricket body, BCCI subsequently called off
the series.

CAB president Avishek Dalmiya, according to Times of India, said, “Authorities wanted them to stay closer to

the airport, hence Westin was the best option. CAB will arrange doctors to provide support. Our office bearers will

be there too. We are in touch with BCCI as well as Bengal government officials. The Bidhannagar Police

Commissioner is also looking into the matter.”

L.N. Meena, who is the Bidhannagar CP, refused to specify the details while adding that a final decision has not

been taken. A senior Westin official said, “Should any such decision be taken, we are ready to host the South African

cricket team. All precautionary health measures according to the Central and state directives will be taken.”

A written query to the Alipore hotel did not receive any response. A senior Bengal government official said that the

South Africans were originally scheduled to stay in a city hotel. “However, with the match being called off, it was felt

the South African team should stay in a hotel closer to the airport. Accordingly, the BCCI was informed today when

we learnt that the SA team is sticking to their Kolkata travel schedule. Wherever the team stays, all necessary health

precautions will be taken as the Central and state said.”

5 top performers of Ranji Trophy 2019-20 who could earn a national call-up soon

5 top performers of Ranji Trophy 2019-20 who could earn a national call-up soon.

Ranji Trophy 2019-20 culminated last week with Saurashtra emerging as the new winners of the competition.

The Jaydev Unadkat-led side defeated Bengal on the virtue of their first innings lead. Big names like Cheteshwar

Pujara and Wriddhiman Saha took part in this year’s final as the most prestigious domestic competition of Indian

cricket came to an end.

Over the years, several big names have broken into the international arena because of their splendid performances in

Ranji Trophy. The current Indian stars namely Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Prithvi Shaw, Bhuvneshwar

Kumar and many others owe their success to Ranji Trophy. This year, the fans witnessed the rise of several new

stars and here is a list of the top 5 players who could earn a national call-up because of their good performance in

Trophy 2019-20.

1. Srikar Bharat

Deemed by many as the premier Indian wicket-keeper batsman in the domestic arena, Srikar Bharat impressed a lot

while playing for Andhra in 2019-20 Ranji Trophy. Even though his team could not reach the semifinal round, he

performed his job to perfection. He ended Ranji Trophy 2019-20 as the most successful wicketkeeper.

Bharat executed 37 dismissals behind the stumps at an average of 2.85 dismissals/innings. He kicked off his Ranji

Trophy campaign with an unbeaten century against Vidarbha and he continued his fine form throughout the

As Wriddhiman Saha is not the team’s first-choice keeper outside India and Rishabh Pant has failed to capitalize on

the opportunities he received, Srikar Bharat could soon break into the national team.

5 Overseas players who are madly loved by Indian fans

5 Overseas players who are madly loved by Indian fans.

There’s absolutely no doubt that AB de Villiers which most likely be at the top of this list. He has a special connect

with India. Everywhere he goes, he is invariably greeted with loud cheers.

It’s down to the IPL as well. The South African great played for Delhi between 2008 and 2010 and since then, de

Villiers has been with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Bengaluru seems to have become his second home. In

fact, in 2015, the Wankhede Stadium gave him a standing ovation for his magnificent ton against India in the fifth

ODI of the series.

On the same tour, Bengaluru hosted his 100th Test match and it was turned into a home game for him. There were

chants of ‘ABD, ABD…’ as he scored 85. It is de Villiers’ style of batting and his ability to smack the ball 3600 that

makes him a special player. There are very few who can adapt to conditions and situations like de Villiers can.

PSL 2020: Match 30, Karachi Kings vs Quetta Gladiators, Match Prediction – Weather Report, Pitch Conditions, Playing XIs and Live Streaming Details

PSL 2020: Match 30, Karachi Kings vs Quetta Gladiators, Match Prediction.

It’s the last game of the league stage and it’s Karachi Kings facing the Quetta Gladiators. The former have qualified for semi-finals while Quetta Gladiators are still in with a chance. They need to win this game and hope that Lahore Qalandars lose their game against Multan Sultans. That way will give them a direct entry at the fourth spot in the semi-finals. Else, they will have to beat Karachi Kings by a huge margin in order to get their net run rate which is -1.052 over Peshawar Zalmi’s -0.055.

At the moment, Karachi Kings are building some nice momentum into the knockouts. They’ve won their last two games and that was on the back of collective bowling performances. Their top-order batting has done well too. Hence, they are looking decent shape ahead of the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi’s last game was washed out without a ball being bowled. However, they’ve lost four games in a row before that. And each of them were by comprehensive margins. But the last time they faced Karachi Kings, they won by five wickets as they chased down 157 with an over to spare. It’s the batting that largely hasn’t stood up and delivered and they will want them to step up in this big game.

Pitch and Conditions

It may be mostly cloudy in Karachi but there is no chance of rain. The pitch here in the last few games has been slightly on the slower side and 150-160 has been the par. Karachi Kings have had two successful sub-160 chases. Thus, both teams will want to field first if they win the toss.

Team Combinations

Karachi Kings

Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam have been the real deal for Karachi Kings at the top of the order. They are the ones holding this batting line-up together and have fired in unison in the last couple of games. Azam is the leading run-getter of Karachi this season and has got 313 runs. Sharjeel is striking at 146.32 and has been the aggressor at the top. The middle-order does look slightly thin in the absence of Alex Hales who was doing a wonderful job at No. 3.

Skipper Imad Wasim is crucial to the balance of this side. The bowling looks decent with Mohammad Amir and Chris Jordan leading the charge. Amir has been slightly inconsistent in the last few games but Jordan has been excellent, especially at the death.

Probable XI: Sharjeel Khan,

Babar Azam,

Cameron Delport,

Iftikhar Ahmed,

Chadwick Walton (wk),

Imad Wasim (c),

Umaid Asif,

Chris Jordan,

Usama Mir,

Arshad Iqbal,

Mohammad Amir

Quetta Gladiators

Jason Roy’s absence is a big blow for the Quetta Gladiators as he was their leading run-getter. Shane Watson has blown hot and cold but is striking at 147.15 in this tournament. Ahmed Shehzad has had a poor season and has managed to score just 61 runs at an average of 10.16. Sarfaraz Ahmed has been decent but consistency has been the issue.

Ben Cutting and Mohammad Nawaz are lending the balance and is contributing with both bat and ball. Cutting has been the difference on a couple of occasions. Meanwhile, Mohammad Hasnain is one of the lone shining lights for Quetta Gladiators this season. The pacer has picked up 14 wickets from eight games.

Probable XI: Ahsan Ali/Khurram Manzoor,

Shane Watson,

Ahmed Shehzad,

Ben Cutting,

Mohammad Nawaz,

Sarfaraz Ahmed (c & wk),

Azam Khan, Sohail Khan,

Zahid Mahmood,

Fawad Ahmed,

Mohammad Hasnain

‘Our advice would be to not do IPL 2020 at this time’ – Ministry of External Affairs amid Coronavirus threat

‘Our advice would be to not do IPL 2020 at this time’ – Ministry of External Affairs amid Coronavirus threat

The coronavirus threat has become a big roadblock in various sporting events taking place in front of spectators.

Governments of various countries have issued directives against mass public gathering at one place, including

stadiums. This has led to La Liga and Champions League matches being played in empty stadiums and event cricket

has been impacted due to this outbreak.

The Road Safety World Series in India has been cancelled, while the two remaining ODIs between India and South

Africa, to be played in Lucknow and Kolkata will now be held in empty stadiums, after ticket sales were cancelled

after Indian government issued a warning about the pandemic. Now a big threat of cancellation looms on the richest

T20 league of the world, the Indian Premier League season 13.

‘Human life has far more value than the IPL’: Maharashtra Health Minister

Maharashtra state’s Vikas Agaadi Government led by Shiv Sena has already cancelled the ticket sales for the IPL

2020 season opener between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on March 29. The government’s decision

on stopping foreigners from coming to India till 15 April has a direct impact on foreign players coming to play for the

various franchises in the Indian T20 league.

A spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs briefed the media in New Delhi and urged the sports federations

to decide wisely on holding events.  “Think it is for the organizers to decide whether to go ahead with it or not. Our

advice would be to not do it at this time but if they want to go ahead, it is their decision,” Dammu Ravi, additional

secretary, MEA and coordinator for COVID-19, was quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

Some activist groups have launched cases at the Supreme Court and courts in Chennai and Mumbai to halt the

league. Karnataka state has also urged for cancellation of the IPL altogether after witnessing the outbreak of the life-

threatening Coronavirus,

However, things are not that easy when it comes to cancelling a T20 league with so much money riding on it. The 60-

game league is said to generate more than $11 billion a year to the Indian economy and Chinese mobile-maker Vivo

paid $330 million to be the top sponsor for 2018-2022.

However, the BCCI is keen on hosting the tournament as per schedule, if it means playing in empty stadiums. “We

are keen to start the IPL on time even if it means without crowds. It could be TV-only as it is a medical emergency

and we can do nothing about that,” a senior BCCI official said on condition of anonymity.
